Build a Family Musical Library - Draíocht

Children love music. Whether they are singing along with Paw Patrol’s theme song or asking you to turn up a popular song on the radio in the car, they love it.

In this our first podcast, which will form part of a series of very short, casual chats with different people in a range of areas of arts practice, we talk to Educationalist, Musician and Song Writer Peter Baxter, about listening to music with your family.

We come to the conclusion that like, with so many other things in life - we need to relax and be led by our children. We don't need an agenda to enjoy and listen to music. And as Peter says, " ... you can just enjoy listening to La Bamba - you don’t have to listen to it to teach your child Spanish!"

This month we welcome the author of "Education in the Digital Age: How We Get There", Nadav Zeimer. This episode discusses how students can become co-creators of their own curriculum, where the teacher moves from a sage on a stage to a mentor or a sherpa. We also look at how digital platforms are inverting our economy and what that means for the education system. Also featuring our guest contributor Peter Baxter of Createschool.
